"Slowly, Maricio lifted the lid of the suitcase...just a crack. A pale green light glowed from inside. Maricio was shaking. He counted to three in his head and threw back the lid. The green light grew stronger. At his feet lay the open suitcase with an ancient stone stairway inside leading downward.

Where on earth could they lead?"

Maricio's adventures begin with a tiny tickle in his stomach and lead to magical places that he never imagines. Along the way, he learns some of life's most valuable lessons...that he need only to keep his head, hold his tongue and trust his heart.

The children who participated in the Once Upon a Time in a Classroom Project invite you to come inside and share the result of their brainstorm of characters, settings, and dilemmas.
